Conference attendees are asked to bring a small piece of their work for the Brown Bag Exchange. Please make sure your piece will fit in a brown paper lunch bag. Everyone who brings a piece gets a piece. Along with your piece, please include a label with your info as follows:

You may also include a business card or postcard if you have one.
You will be asked to submit your piece and label for the Brown Bag Exchange during registration from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 27. The pieces will all be placed in brown paper lunch bags that remain anonymous on the outside, except for a ticket with a number that will be stapled on to your bag and you will get a duplicate ticket to hold on to until the draw, which will happen on Friday, September 27 from Noon to 12:15 p.m.
Chilli Lunch and Bowl Exchange
Saturday, September 28 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.
We will be hosting a chilli lunch for all conference attendees on Saturday, September 28 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.
Please bring a bowl to exchange for someone else’s bowl in the Chilli Lunch and Bowl Exchange. If you don’t have a bowl to bring, don’t worry, the University of Manitoba Ceramics Club will have some bowls available for $10.00 each.
All bowls will be filled up with chilli – vegetarian and meat options available – and there will be buns and condiments to go with it.

We will be holding Student Round Robin Critiques on Saturday, September 28 from 2:45 to 4:00 p.m. Students at any level are welcome and they are asked to bring images of their works on their phones, iPads, paper print-outs, postcards, etc. Please come prepared with 3 to 4 different images of your works. Faculty and visiting artists have been asked to join in.
Saturday, September 28 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Students will compete in a series of clay challenges – bring your skills and maybe a towel – it will get messy!
Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
You are invited to participate in the first ever 1000 Miles Apart MFA Forum. This is an information session and question and answer period for all those who are interested in going to graduate school or have been to grad school already. It’s open to anyone who is interested in sharing thoughts or who may have questions.
Faculty and visiting artists have been invited to participate. Three of the five schools that take turns hosting 1000 Miles Apart have MFA programs and this is an excellent opportunity to gather info and ask questions about the different programs, the application process, facilities, studios, scholarships, TA-ships, housing, etc.
